How Acupuncture Works
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into specific acupuncture points on the body. This small action can trigger a cascade of effects from increasing endorphins to boosting immune functioning to the releasing anti-inflammatories (important in the reduction of swelling and aiding healing). This holistic approach to health and well-being encourages the body’s own natural healing response.
- Fine needles are inserted into specially selected acupuncture points the needles remain in place for between 15 and 30 minutes. During this time you can switch off and relax to soothing music.

Your first appointment may last up to an hour and a half this is because a full medical history will be taken which will include details of any medication you are currently prescribed. A detailed discussion about the symptoms or condition you are suffering from will help your acupuncturist determine the best treatment plan for you.
